Former Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney has unveiled the tracklisting to his forthcoming live album ‘Good Evening New York’.
Sir Paul McCartney returned to New York this year for an emotional series of shows. The singer first played Shea Stadium in 1965 with The Beatles, creating near mass hysteria with their live show.
Retaining a special place in McCartney’s heart, the songwriter was invited back for the venue’s final show last year. A special guest of Billy Joel, the singer was determined to open the new stadium built on the same spot.
Named Citi Field, Sir Paul McCartney announced a show at the New York stadium earlier this year. With huge demand for tickets the singer was forced to add an extra two dates in quick succession – with both quickly selling out.
A massive success, Sir Paul McCartney revealed afterwards that the shows would be released as a live album and DVD. Now the Liverpool music legend has revealed more details about the forthcoming release.
Recorded during the Citi Field shows, the new live album features a total of thirty three tracks spanning his entire career. Opening with The Beatles’ classic ‘Drive My Car’ then ploughs through a host of songs from Wings and his solo era.
Slipping in a few Beatles classics, Sir Paul McCartney pays tribute to George Harrison with an affection rendering of ‘Something’. Ending with a medley of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’/'The End’ the set left fans stunned.
